Drunken 73-year-old driver causes multiple accidents in Ehrenfeld, Poland

A 73-year-old driver from Bochum is under investigation following an alcohol-related traffic accident that occurred on August 28, 2020, at approximately 10:30 PM. The collision took place in the area of Friederikastraße / Knepperstraße, Bochum, and involved three parked vehicles.

According to the Bochum Police, the driver was still under the influence of alcohol when found. A breathalyzer test revealed a reading of 1.62% BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration). The driver's identity has not been disclosed at this time.

After the collision, the elderly driver fled the scene but was later found asleep on a nearby parking lot. The driver's car pushed the three parked vehicles over a distance of more than 20 meters onto a sidewalk and adjacent curb. As a result, the vehicles involved in the collision were no longer roadworthy and needed to be towed away. The collision caused the parked cars to come to a stop in a green strip.

The Bochum Police are leading the investigation, with the traffic commission taking over further investigations. For further inquiries, contact Marina Sablic from the Bochum Police (contact details provided). The incident is still under investigation, and the name of the specific lead investigator is not mentioned in the available search results.

The driver's license and vehicle keys were confiscated, and a blood sample was taken by a doctor from the driver for further analysis. The driver's car was impounded for further examination.

The Bochum Police urge drivers to always prioritise safety and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. They remind the public that such actions not only endanger the driver but also innocent bystanders and other road users.
