Dubai demonstrates an ambitious gaming strategy at Gamescom 2025
Dubai, the vibrant city-state in the United Arab Emirates, has set its sights on becoming one of the world's top gaming hubs by 2033. This ambitious goal is part of the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033, a strategic initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The program, unveiled at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, showcased Dubai's plans to transform into a global hub for gaming and digital innovation. The Dubai Pavilion, the first official government-led participation from the Middle East at Gamescom 2025, attracted thousands of visitors, international delegations, and leading companies.
The exhibition space at Gamescom 2025 was a massive 233,000 square meters, and the event had participation from 72 countries. Dubai used this platform to highlight its commitment to creativity, technology, and gaming. The Dubai Pavilion featured prominent organisations such as the Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre.
Faisal Kazim, Director of DPG33, emphasised that the global interest in Dubai's gaming ambitions reflects the city's growing role as an international center for game development and creative industries. He added that the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 aims to create 30,000 new industry jobs in Dubai and contribute nearly USD 1 billion to the emirate's digital economy.
Abdulaziz AlJaziri, Deputy CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, further emphasised that the event served as a platform to showcase Dubai's innovation-driven ecosystem and its attractiveness for investment, talent, and partnerships. He stated that Gamescom 2025 reinforced its status as the world's leading gaming platform, providing an ideal opportunity for Dubai to showcase its potential.
The participating organisations at Gamescom 2025 agreed that Dubai's commitment to technology and innovation positions it well to become one of the world's top gaming hubs by 2033. The Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 aims to place Dubai among the world's top 10 gaming hubs, a goal that seems closer to reality with each passing day.
