Russian Deputy Calls for Investigation into Musician's Actions

Deputy Mikhail Romanov of the State Duma from St. Petersburg has demanded an investigation into the actions of musician Sergei Shnurov, following his refusal to assist participants in Russia's special military operation.

In an interview with the publication Life.ru, Deputy Romanov expressed concern about Shnurov's stance and suggested that there may be administrative offenses involved. He also highlighted that an investigation is necessary due to Shnurov's actions.

Romanov's demand comes after Vitaly Borodin, the head of the Federal Project to Combat Corruption, reported that Shnurov had refused to cooperate with the organisation in supporting participants in the SVO and demanded the cancellation of his concerts.

The deputy stated that there are artists who have criticized their homeland and have been recognised as foreign agents. He referenced the traditions of the Great Patriotic War era in which artists supported the military, and emphasised that many artists today continue to support the military operation and provide humanitarian aid.

In a separate incident, musician Shaman admitted wanting to record a duet with Nikolai Kadyshev for the cancellation of "Leningrad" group's concerts during the SVO. The demand follows Shnurov's refusal to assist participants in the special military operation.

Deputy Romanov mentioned that he has not seen any posters advertising concerts by Sergei Shnurov in St. Petersburg or for tourists. The demand from Deputy Romanov also includes the cancellation of Shnurov's concerts.

The Russian prosecutor general's office previously demanded the ban of concerts by the music group "Leningrad" during the special situation in Ukraine. It remains to be seen whether similar action will be taken against Shnurov.

The whole country has shown unity during the special military operation, according to Deputy Romanov. He believes that Shnurov may fall into the category of those who do not support the operation and could potentially be found guilty of administrative offenses. If any offenses are found, they will be addressed, he added.
