Dusseldorf reports: Defeat lands ART Giants in last place on the league table
In a closely contested match, Düsseldorf faced off against league leaders Science City Jena, with the home team starting strong with a 5:0 run. The first quarter was dominated by Düsseldorf, as they showcased impressive offensive play to take a 29:20 lead into the first break.
Henry led the charge for Düsseldorf, scoring 12 points, while Teichmann and Tucker contributed with 4 and 2 points respectively. Sanni was a force to be reckoned with, netting 16 points for the team.
However, Jena's offense found its rhythm in the second quarter, and their aggressive man-to-man defense gradually eroded Düsseldorf's lead. Despite the fightback, Düsseldorf held their ground, maintaining a narrow advantage until the halftime break, with Jena leading 43:40.
The second half was a tough battle for every point, as both teams displayed resilience and determination. Jena calmly defended their lead, while Düsseldorf continued to fight, trying to make up some ground in the last two and a half minutes. Hart added 12 more points for Düsseldorf, but it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit.
Marshall also chipped in with 9 points for Düsseldorf, but it wasn't enough to secure a victory. Ajare Sanni reduced the deficit to 54:59 for Düsseldorf at the quarter buzzer, but it wasn't enough to prevent the defeat.
The loss keeps Düsseldorf in the lower half of the Basketball Bundesliga table, currently placed 12th. After the FIBA break, Düsseldorf will face the Karlsruhe Lions, who have only two more wins to their name. The upcoming game presents an opportunity for Düsseldorf to bounce back and climb up the table.
