Düsseldorf Carnival 2023: A Weekend of Excitement for All Ages

This year, Düsseldorf is celebrating the 200th anniversary of its carnival, and the Committee Düsseldorf Carnival (CC) has planned a series of exciting events for both carnival Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the grand children and youth parade will make its way to Corneliusplatz at 3:30 pm, with thousands of spectators traditionally watching this much-anticipated event. The day will kick off at noon with a DJ, followed by a welcome by the CC at 1:00 pm. At 2:00 pm, the stage will come alive with performances by Hermes and Band, Swinging Funfares, and Die Hammer - The Original.

At 4:30 pm, the presentation of the children's prince and princess, followed by 'Pänz en de Bütt' and a DJ, will take place. The day will conclude with a joint celebration on Corneliusplatz.

On Sunday, the children and youth parade will start at 12:00 pm, with Alt Schuss performing at 1:00 pm and Jollies at 11:00 am. The Corneliusplatz Stage Programme will begin at 10:00 am with a welcome by the CC, and will continue with live music from Düsseldorf bands such as Fantastic Company, Swinging Funfares, Die Hammer - The Original, and A rhythmussportgruppe.

New sponsors Obi and Stadtwerke have made it possible for the realization of the stage on Sunday, and Obi is providing 300 kilograms of sweets for the Saturday parade and extra 'kamelle' (candy) for the winning groups in the Rosenmontag parade.

It is worth noting that no individual school will be advertising for OBI during the carnival. The area at the Ko will be closed for car traffic during the time the stage is set up on Sunday.

The Düsseldorf carnival parade is one of the largest children and youth parades in Europe, with over 6,000 children and their chaperones participating last year. More information about Altweiber and Rosenmontag will follow.

The CC is introducing new attractions for carnival Saturday and Sunday, and live music will be present at Corneliusplatz throughout the carnival. The 200th anniversary of Carnival in Düsseldorf is sure to be a weekend to remember!
