Dusseldorf's Bundestag Election 2025: Key Points to Consider

On Sunday, February 23rd, the new Bundestag will be elected, and eligible voters in Düsseldorf are called to the federal election. Here's what you need to know to ensure a smooth voting process.

Voting In-Person

Approximately 305 polling stations will be open in Düsseldorf on Sunday from 8 AM to 6 PM. For those who wish to vote in advance, the direct voting office in Mecumstraße 10 is open from Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM, and on Saturday, February 22nd, from 8 AM to 12 PM.

The Office of Statistics and Elections recommends using public transportation to reach the direct voting office. Nearby stops include Düsseldorf-Bilk S-Bahn Station, Karolingerplatz, Düsseldorf-Volksgarten S-Bahn Station, Feuerbachstraße, Auf'm Hennekamp, and Park&Ride Südpark. Limited parking is available on site, with paid parking lots at Brinckmannstraße 5 and the Volksgarten.

Absentee Voting

Absentee voting can only be requested online until Wednesday, February 19th, at 6 PM. As of Tuesday, February 18th, more than 144,000 absentee ballot requests have been submitted and processed. Absentee voters should return their red voting envelope by Wednesday, February 19th. Voting envelopes cannot be handed in or received at the voting rooms on Sunday.

Results and Contacts

The election analysis for the federal election with the Düsseldorf results will appear in a new online format on the Monday after the election. It will include interactive elements and more visualizations. The results will be available on the website of the Statistical Office and Elections at www.duesseldorf.de/statistik-und-wahlen/aktuelle-mitteilungen and in the statistics portal at www.statistik.duesseldorf.de.

The telephone hotline of the Statistical Office and Elections will be available on Saturday, February 22, from 8 AM to 12 PM, and on election Sunday during the opening hours of the polling stations.

Volunteer Election Workers

Approximately 4,200 volunteer election helpers will ensure a smooth process and the counting of votes on Sunday. These citizens have been appointed to assist with election logistics and vote counting at polling stations.

Voting Envelopes

Voting envelopes must be received by the Office of Statistics and Elections, Mecumstraße 10, by Sunday, February 23rd, at 6 PM. The Office of Statistics and Elections at Mecumstraße 10 is only open on election Sunday, February 23rd, from 8 AM to 3 PM, in case of sudden illness and other exceptions. There is no polling station at the Office of Statistics and Elections on Sunday. Voting is not possible there.
