Dyson unveils improved V8 model, maintaining similar price point as the initial version
Dyson has unveiled its latest innovation in the world of cordless vacuums, the V8 Cyclone. This new model is an upgraded version of the best-selling V8 stick vacuum and promises to offer several improvements.
The V8 Cyclone boasts a 30% increase in suction power compared to the original V8, providing a more efficient cleaning experience. Additionally, it offers a 50% longer runtime, allowing users to clean for a full hour on a single charge. The battery is removable, enabling replacement or hot-swapping for uninterrupted cleaning.
One of the standout features of the V8 Cyclone is its lightweight design. Weighing less than Dyson's newer vacuums, it is more comfortable to use for extended periods, especially in handheld mode.
The main floorhead of the V8 Cyclone has been upgraded to one that actively detangles hair, making it ideal for homes with pets. However, it does not feature an Auto mode that adjusts suction based on floor type or dirt detected.
The dust cup, motor, and cyclones of the V8 Cyclone are arranged at a right angle to the wand, unlike the newer Dyson stick vacuums where they are in a line. This design change, according to Dyson Engineer Steph Parker, required a significant change to the product design.
In the UK, the V8 Cyclone will be available from September 17, 2025, with a list price of £349.99. This price is slightly more than the V8 Advanced, which retails at £329.99. Unfortunately, pricing and launch information for the US and Australia have not been provided yet.
The V8 Cyclone is designed to be an all-rounder vacuum, but it is more geared towards smaller homes with less foot traffic. While it offers a significant improvement over the original V8, it falls short in terms of suction power compared to the V11 (200AW) and the V16 Piston Animal (315AW).
In conclusion, the Dyson V8 Cyclone is an upgraded version of the popular V8 stick vacuum, offering improved suction, longer runtime, and a lightweight design. It is set to hit the UK market in September 2025, but pricing and launch details for other regions are yet to be announced.
