In an unfortunate incident that occurred on Saturday, a landslide near Levanger, Norway, has caused significant damage to both the E6 highway and a nearby railway line.

Photos of the damaged infrastructure have been published in Norwegian media, showing the extent of the destruction caused by the landslide. Work is currently underway to stabilise the soil along the railway line, and geotechnical experts have been called in to assess the risk of further landslides.

The highway is expected to remain closed for several days due to the damage caused by the landslide. Initially, another person was reported missing after the landslide, but it has since been confirmed that this individual was a Danish national who was working at the construction site. The name of the missing man has not been disclosed in the available information.

A man was swept away in his car during the landslide but managed to escape with minor injuries. The police have since changed the status of the operation from a rescue mission to a search for a presumed deceased person. Rescue chief Johan Mannsaker stated that they hope the missing person is trapped in an air pocket under the debris.

Next of kin of the missing person have been notified by the authorities. The operation near Levanger is being managed by Aftenposten. It is likely that the landslide was a clay landslide, but the responsible state-owned company is unsure if the landslide was caused by construction work.

The police are continuing their search efforts for the missing worker, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the missing individual during this difficult time.
