East Harlem authorities are currently seeking three suspects in connection with a deadly shooting that took the life of a 69-year-old woman.

In a shocking incident, a 69-year-old woman named Robin Wright was fatally shot near her East Harlem home on Wednesday afternoon. The shooting occurred on East 110th Street and Madison Avenue, just a block from Central Park.

Robin Wright, a longtime member of the community, was often seen smiling on a bench outside her building in NYCHA's Lehman Village development. On the day of the shooting, she was walking back to her building after getting Chinese food when she was shot.

The NYPD is still investigating who opened fire and why, but the suspects are described as three men wearing dark hoodies and black face masks. One of them was wearing gray sweatpants, another was wearing white sneakers, and the third was wearing black-and-red sneakers.

At the crime scene, Robin Wright's abandoned walker was found surrounded by a pool of blood on the sidewalk. Her friend Juanita Arnold was with her when she was shot. Arnold described seeing six or seven gunshots and Robin Wright falling to the ground after the shooting.

Jo Ann Canty, vice president of the Lehman Village tenant association, expressed feeling nervous about the recent increase in violence. She noted that the summer was quiet but the violence is starting to escalate. Canty stated that city officials need to do more to get guns off the streets.

Despite this unfortunate incident, NYPD data shows shootings citywide are currently down 20% compared to last year. The Mayor Eric Adams' administration claimed to have removed over 3,000 illegal guns from city streets this year. However, the search results do not contain any information about the three men investigated by the police in connection with the murder of Robin Wright.

Robin Wright is survived by a son, a daughter, and several grandchildren. Alfred Mack, an 86-year-old neighbour, expressed being hurt and not leaving his house since the shooting.

As the investigation continues, the community is left to mourn the loss of a beloved neighbour. The NYPD urges anyone with information to come forward and help bring justice for Robin Wright.
