Nigeria, according to El-Rufai, is a nation that belongs to everyone, not solely the APC party – a statement made in reference to Atiku.

El-Rufai asserts that Nigeria belongs to everyone, not just the APC party, a position countered by Atiku.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has issued a statement, expressing concern over the recent developments in Kaduna, Katsina, and other parts of Nigeria. In his statement, made on Friday, Abubakar described these events as a dangerous assault on civic freedom.

Abubakar's statement was in response to the recent invitation of Nasir El-Rufai, the erstwhile governor of Kaduna State, by the Kaduna State Police Command, along with seven ADC leaders, over alleged conspiracy, incitement, and other offences.

The former Vice President urged Nigerians to recognize the urgency of the situation and defend democracy as a collective responsibility. He warned that the criminalization of opposition and the undermining of peaceful civic engagement could lead Nigeria towards authoritarian rule.

Abubakar emphasized that Nigeria belongs to all its citizens, and he did not mention any specific party or individual in his statements. He also cited the attack on former Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, and the violent disruption of a meeting of the Katsina Elders Forum on security reforms as evidence of a growing trend towards authoritarianism.

Atiku Abubakar's statements come at a time when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is experiencing internal dynamics, with figures like Nyesom Wike playing significant roles. As Atiku Abubakar signals interest for the 2027 elections, Wike's position affects the party's strategy and relations amid competition with Peter Obi and President Bola Tinubu.

However, it is important to note that this article does not contain any direct quotes from Nyesom Wike, Cross River PDP Chair, Tambuwal, Tinubu, Peter Obi, Jonathan, or Kenneth Okonkwo. The focus of this article is on Atiku Abubakar's statements regarding the current state of democracy in Nigeria and his call for citizens to take action.
