Elderly individual struck by vehicle while crossing the road
On Tuesday, 2nd September, at around 4:20 PM, a traffic accident occurred on the Schleidtalstraße in Bad Münstereifel.
In a curve on the road, an 87-year-old pedestrian, a resident of the town, was crossing from a nearby park. A 64-year-old driver, also a resident of Bad Münstereifel, was traveling along the Schleidtalstraße from Bad Münstereifel-Scheuren towards the Kölner Straße in Bad Münstereifel. Despite making an evasive maneuver, the driver collided with the elderly pedestrian.
The accident resulted in the pedestrian sustaining severe injuries. The driver, too, was involved in the incident. The Euskirchen's traffic accident response team handled the investigation at the accident site.
Tragically, the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital by a rescue helicopter. The accident site was closed for investigation until 7:34 PM.
