In an incident that occurred on August 13, 2025, at 22:08, a 60-year-old Afghan national disregarded safety protocols by crossing the railway tracks at Magdeburg Central Station. The individual, who is an Afghan national, crossed from platform seven to platform six, causing an approaching locomotive of a freight train to initiate an emergency brake.

The incident was reported to the emergency control center of the railway, which in turn notified the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg.
