Elections for the Council have been delayed

Neuss, Germany - Kreiswahlleiter Dirk Brügge has announced changes to the election schedule following the sudden passing of a candidate. The mayoral, district council, and county council elections in electoral district 5 in Jüchen, originally scheduled for September 13, 2020, have been postponed to September 27, 2020.

The election for the city council will also include a possible runoff election on the same date. The ballot for the city council election, however, will not be included in the vote count.

Brügge has urged all citizens to exercise their voting rights on September 13 for the remaining elections. He also emphasised that votes already cast by mail for district council, mayoral, and county council elections will be counted.

The original election date was changed due to the sudden death of Wilfried Dietrich, the deceased candidate who was 66 years old and died after a short, serious illness. The "Alliance 90/The Greens" party has until September 22, 2020, at 6:00 PM to nominate a new candidate for the electoral district.
