Johnson Matthey, a global leader in sustainable technologies, is hosting a webinar aimed at helping participants take the first steps in Design of Experiments (DoE). The webinar, which will be conducted using JMP software, is scheduled to discuss the benefits of DoE and provide insights into speeding up process development using data.

Pilar Gomez-Jimenez, the principal scientist at Johnson Matthey, will be the main speaker for the webinar. With a master's degree and a PhD in chemical engineering, Gomez-Jimenez has been working in research and development of catalysts and materials for 15 years. Currently, she works within a research division at Johnson Matthey that applies DoE, extending its use through advanced methods training and support. Gomez-Jimenez is enthusiastic about the application of DoE in her field.

Another speaker, Phil Kay, holds a master's degree in applied statistics, a master's degree in chemistry, and is a Royal Society of Chemistry Chartered Chemist and Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. Prior to his current role, Kay was a key scientist in the development of numerous processes for the manufacture of colorants for digital printing at FujiFilm Imaging Colorants.

The webinar series is sponsored by JMP, a division of SAS that has been a part of SAS since 1989. SAS is the leader in business analytics software and services, and the largest independent vendor in the business intelligence market. JMP brings interactive data visualization and analysis to the desktop, making it an ideal tool for the webinar's discussions.

The webinar will not only focus on the theoretical aspects of DoE but also provide practical insights. It will cover the transition from a traditional mindset to a DoE mindset, and how to apply DoE in real-world scenarios. The webinar is part of a series, and is hosted by Johnson Matthey.

Benjamin Valsler, the digital editor of our website magazine, will be the moderator for the webinar. Prior to joining the Royal Society of Chemistry, Valsler was the producer of the award-winning Naked Scientists. He currently produces video and podcasts to accompany the magazine and website.

Johnson Matthey researches, develops, and innovates solutions to make the world cleaner and healthier. Their work in catalysis and materials science has a significant impact on various industries, including pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, fuel cells, and emissions control technologies.

The webinar aims to help participants understand the value of DoE and how it can be applied in their own work. It is a great opportunity for anyone interested in process development and optimisation to gain insights from industry experts and learn about the latest tools and techniques.
