Nestled in the heart of Zehlendorf, at Argentinische Allee 30, the Haus am Waldsee exhibition is running through May 5, offering a thought-provoking exploration of collective memory and the influence of big finance.

One of the standout pieces in this exhibition is the film 'True Entertainment' (2023), a satire that masterfully portrays the sordidness of gallery booths during art fairs, as well as the intersection of creative endeavor and extreme wealth. The film is set just before the financial crisis and is presented in the style of a reality TV show, capturing the behavior of fist-pumping gallerists, "rich bitch" assistants, obsessive collectors, and their hierarchical one-upmanship.

Another intriguing component of the exhibition is the video work 'Professional witnesses', which consists of eight parts. This work features half-fictionalized accounts of 9/11 witnesses, filmed in a style reminiscent of an Apple campaign from the early 2000s. One witness in the video reflects on the price of gold following the impact of the plane hitting the first tower.

The exhibition also includes opaque wall works that connect the Manhattan skyline with ghostly reflections, serving as a poignant reminder of the events of 9/11. The curators aim to make viewers think back to their own experiences and the sense that 9/11 is now history.

It's important to note that despite extensive search efforts, there are no direct results identifying the artist or creator of the 2023 film "True Entertainment." However, the provocative and unsettling nature of 'Professional witnesses', which is deliberately irksome, provocative, unpleasant, and off-key, suggests a bold and unapologetic voice at the helm.

The Haus am Waldsee exhibition offers a compelling and thought-provoking exploration of the intersection of art, wealth, and history. Whether you're a seasoned art enthusiast or a casual observer, this exhibition promises to provoke, challenge, and inspire. Don't miss your chance to immerse yourself in this unique and thought-provoking experience.
