A heartbreaking story has unfolded in Wilferdingen, Germany, concerning a friendly bulldog named Bello-Giovanni. The dog was found abandoned at the Remchingen train station, covered in maggots and severely ill.

Despite the animal shelter's tireless efforts to save Bello-Giovanni, the dog's condition was so severe that it required immediate attention. The bulldog was diagnosed with leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease, and had painful holes in the area of her hindquarters and anus.

The local newspaper, "Pforzheimer Zeitung", reported on the bulldog's plight, and a fundraising appeal was started to help with Bello-Giovanni's medical expenses. However, tragically, the dog did not recover and died at the animal shelter due to kidney failure.

The staff at the animal shelter were deeply saddened by Bello-Giovanni's death, which was announced on Instagram. The bulldog was not from Pforzheim, contrary to some reports, and was not saved by the animal shelter there.

The owner of Bello-Giovanni is believed to be responsible for the dog's neglect and suffering, and investigations are currently ongoing. Animal cruelty, including the abandonment of Bello-Giovanni, can be punished with up to three years in prison or a fine.

No new update on the case of Bello-Giovanni has been announced, but the public's concern and support for the dog have not waned. The memory of Bello-Giovanni serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the consequences of neglect.
