Jaguar Land Rover Introduces AI-Powered Vehicle Inspection System at US Seaports

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) North America has made a significant stride in the automotive industry by introducing AI-powered vehicle inspection systems at three of its main US entry points: Brunswick, Georgia; Baltimore, Maryland; and Port Hueneme, California.

The introduction of this AI-powered inspection system is intended to improve transparency, traceability, and efficiency across JLR's supply chain. The system, described as an "MRI for vehicles," scans and detects dents, scratches, underbody damage, and rim flaws as small as 20mm.

This move by JLR marks the first time an American car brand has used the AI-based inspection systems of the Israeli company UVeye at seaports. Amir Hever, CEO and co-founder of UVeye, stated that the deployment of the technology at ports creates a new benchmark of transparency, traceability, and trust throughout the supply chain.

The consistent quality assurance provided by the AI system has become increasingly important in an industry facing ongoing disruption. Maintaining high inspection standards across the finished vehicle network is now seen as both an operational necessity and a competitive advantage.

The AI system is designed to identify defects earlier, reduce the risk of disputes or rework, and speed up inspections compared with manual checks. The system is already in use at US dealerships, providing real-time condition reports for sales and service departments.

Extending the system to ports creates a digital record that follows vehicles from arrival to delivery, improving visibility between manufacturers, logistics providers, and dealerships. This extends beyond efficient port processing; it's about building smarter, faster, and more consistent automotive logistics that benefit everyone from OEMs and dealerships to drivers.

The automotive logistics industry is taking note of JLR's initiative. At the Automotive Logistics' 2025 Finished Vehicle Logistics North America conference, the AI system's implementation at seaports was highlighted as a significant step. UVeye and JLR's collaboration is setting a new standard for vehicle logistics, using AI to enhance quality assurance from the moment a vehicle enters the country.

In conclusion, JLR's introduction of AI-powered vehicle inspection systems at US seaports is a game-changer in the automotive industry. It promises to improve transparency, traceability, and efficiency, while setting a new standard for quality assurance and logistics processes.
