Enhanced security at Frankfurt's main station: Stricter measures implemented to combat crime and disorder

In a bid to ensure the city's future-proofness, Wolfgang Siefert, the head of the mobility department, has underscored the importance of a secure public transport system. The aim is to create an environment in public transport that makes people feel as safe as they do in their private cars, with the hope of attracting new passengers.

To achieve this, a cooperation agreement regarding security in Frankfurt's station district has been initiated. This agreement, initially valid for three years, involves Deutsche Bahn, the City of Frankfurt am Main, and state authorities. The initial cooperation is limited to one year at Frankfurt Central Station and other major transport hubs, with the intention of making the station district less appealing to criminals, particularly for drug crime.

The agreement calls for coordinated action to increase the presence at critical points and speed up reactions to disruptions. All involved actors, including the federal police, are expected to work closely together to achieve this.

The success of the agreed measures remains to be seen, but security is a central concern of the population in Frankfurt. The cooperation aims to lay the foundation for long-term cooperation to strengthen security and living quality at Frankfurt's central traffic hubs.

It is worth noting that the agreement does not automatically extend beyond three years unless one of the involved parties requests changes. This means that the continued success and safety of the city's public transport system will depend on the ongoing commitment and collaboration of all parties involved.
