Enrollment for the 2026/2027 academic year at primary schools located in Essen
The city of Essen has released important details regarding the school registration process for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year. Here's what you need to know.
Registration for the 1st grade will take place in all municipal primary schools on Tuesday, 23rd September, Wednesday, 24th September, and by individual arrangement with the desired school. However, for the Tiegelschule, the registration dates are slightly different. Registrations for the Tiegelschule will occur on Thursday, 18th September, Friday, 19th September, Monday, 29th September, and Tuesday, 30th September.
Interested parties can schedule appointments for the registration interview at their chosen primary school by telephone or on the homepage. For the Tiegelschule, registration interviews will not occur at the Tiegelschule itself, but at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
