EU-POLICY UPDATE: Uninvited Guests in the Limelight

In an effort to promote safety on the roads, the Euskirchen Police conducted targeted checks on motorcyclists on September 7th. The checks, which took place in Blankenheim, Nettersheim, and Bad Münstereifel, resulted in the apprehension of 33 riders who were caught speeding.

Excessive speed remains one of the main causes of severe traffic accidents, endangering not only the driver but also others on the road. Two quads and one motorcycle were found to have technical modifications that led to their registration cancellation. Ten of these speeding riders exceeded the permitted speed so much that they now face a driving ban.

One of the most notable offenders was a 53-year-old rider from the Cochem-Zell district, who was caught driving at 142 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. This reckless behaviour earned him a fine of 1400 euros, a three-month driving ban, and two points on his license.

The drivers of the loud vehicles from Düren and Euskirchen now face a fine of 90 euros each for their technical modifications. The Euskirchen Police continue to work towards more safety in motorcycle traffic through presence, checks, and education.

The Euskirchen Police's efforts towards motorcycle safety can be followed on their social media platforms. Statistics show clearly that speeding is not worth the risk. The Kreispolizeibehörde Euskirchen can be contacted for press inquiries at the provided contact information.

The Euskirchen Police will continue to engage with motorcycle riders to raise awareness for safe driving. They encourage all road users to respect the speed limits and drive responsibly for the sake of everyone's safety.
