In an analysis by SuomiCasino, the top destination for nature holidays in Europe in 2025 is predicted to be Germany. This shift in preference signifies a new kind of longing: less spectacular, but balanced, accessible, and multifaceted.

Germany's appeal lies in its remarkable environmental quality, landscape diversity, and cultural substance. The country covers 32% of its area with forests, making it one of the most forested countries in Europe. This forested expanse contributes to the cleanliness of 77% of Germany's water, which is rated as 'good'.

Germany is home to almost 1,700 designated waterfall trails, providing ample opportunities for nature enthusiasts to explore. One of the country's most notable landmarks is the Zugspitze, standing tall at 2,963 meters, the highest peak in Germany.

Germany's cultural richness is evident with 54 UNESCO World Heritage sites, placing it among the culturally richest countries in Europe. From medieval cityscapes to industrial culture and Bauhaus sites, Germany offers a diverse range of cultural experiences.

Switzerland ranks second in the study, impressing with its alpine dimensions, high peaks, clean water, and low air pollution. Liechtenstein, despite having minimal tourist numbers, ranks ninth, thanks to its low air pollution value in Europe and almost 42% forest cover. Liechtenstein's water is also very clean.

The United Kingdom, while not taking the top spot, still has much to offer. With over 2,400 waterfall trails and 35 UNESCO World Heritage sites, the UK is a destination worthy of consideration. However, its forest cover is relatively low compared to other countries in the top 10.

Italy, France, Greece, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, Croatia, Iceland, and Norway complete the top 10 dream destinations in Europe for nature holidays in 2025. Countries like Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, and Hungary missed the top 10 but still offer unique and appealing experiences for nature lovers.

The study suggests that in the future, a "dream destination" will be defined by environmental quality, landscape diversity, and cultural substance, making Europe a continent rich with possibilities for nature holidays.
