European Action Week Participation: Mettmann Engaged in Operation Speed

In a week-long crackdown on speeding, the Mettmann County Police participated in "Operation Speed" from August 4, 2025, to August 10, 2025. During this operation, a total of 12,474 vehicles were checked, resulting in a significant number of speeding offenses.

The city of Ratingen emerged as the hotspot for speeding offenses, with a staggering 242 instances recorded. Close behind was Erkrath, with 79 offenses, followed by Mettmann with 32, Hilden with 39, Heiligenhaus with 10, and Haan with 11.

The most notorious "speedster" of the week was a driver in Ratingen, who was measured at an alarming 101 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. This driver now faces a fine of 400 euros, two points in Flensburg, and a one-month driving ban after deducting the tolerance.

A total of 2,059 drivers were found to be driving significantly too fast. However, the fastest driver measured during the Europe-wide "Operation Speed" by the Mettmann police is not publicly named.
