European authorities are actively shaping a fresh initiative geared towards strengthening the domestic audiovisual sector.
In the heart of Essen, the city centre is bustling with activity, especially during the brighter season when pedestrian traffic increases. Amidst this vibrant atmosphere, a new initiative, known as the Safe City project, has been making strides in enhancing the sense of security for both citizens and business owners.
The Safe City concept, overseen by the city administration of Essen, employs a combination of preventive and repressive measures to combat crime. At the forefront of these measures are two mobile video surveillance systems, strategically placed in high-traffic areas and recurring police deployment zones.
One of these systems, installed between the Market Church and the Town Hall Gallery, has proven particularly effective in combating drug-related crime and knife offenses. The second system will be installed at Viehofer Straße / Kasteienstraße, starting from August 14th.
These mobile video surveillance systems serve a dual purpose. They not only support the presence of the police at key points in the city centre but also coordinate rapid deployment of forces when necessary. Additionally, their installation reduces criminal hideouts, providing a safer environment for all.
The Essen police have already re-deployed a mobile video surveillance system since July 7th, and the results have been promising. Numerous conversations with citizens and business owners in the city centre and Nordviertel indicate an improvement in the sense of security.
The Safe City project's ultimate goal is to detect new criminal trends early and react effectively to them. This is achieved through strategic surveillance, incident-related controls, and the use of mobile video observation.
The implementation of these measures is a collaborative effort between the city administration, local law enforcement, and urban development authorities. The project's success is evident in the increased sense of security among Essen's citizens, making the city centre a safer and more enjoyable place for all.
