On Friday, September 27, the Children and Youth Office (KiJub) and the youth center Big House in Neuwied are hosting the "Storytime" action day. This event, part of the inter-cultural weeks, aims to encourage young people to actively engage with democracy and discuss its meaning, challenges, opportunities, and the role of values like tolerance.

The day begins with school theater performances of "What the Rhinoceros Saw When It Looked Over the Fence" at the castle theater at 9 am and 11 am. The play, written by Jens Raschke, tells a story about adaptation, courage, injustice, and inhumanity. Registration is required for school classes wishing to attend one of the performances.

At the Big House, located at Museumstraße 4a, the open program with interactive offers begins at 3:30 pm. Mayor Peter Jung will open the event, followed by a reading from "I Too Was a Child of That Time" by Toni Dasbach, performed by actor Boris Weber from the "Free Stage Neuwied".

Throughout the day, various workshops related to democracy, such as "Diversity" and "Fake News", will be offered. Two school bands and Tendai-Depuhl will provide music, and a poetry slam by Laura Mohr will take place. An exhibition by the youth initiative "We Against Racism" will be viewable, and AWO, Caritas, and the youth council will have information stands on-site.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring Mayor Jung, rapper Noah Tendai-Depuhl, and Ahmed Alik from "We Against Racism". For further information, contact [email protected] by email or call 02631/802 748.

"Storytime" is a collaborative event organized by KiJub, Big House, the Neuwied Alliance for Democracy & Tolerance, the Pastoral Region Neuwied, the Evangelical Church Neuwied, the youth action "We Against Racism", and the Neuwied Youth Council. Participation in the action day and the snacks provided at Big House are free. We look forward to seeing you there!
