European Team, led by Rory McIlroy, feels more competent, boasting a more accomplished roster as McIlroy strives to culminate a 'career-best year' at the Ryder Cup.

Rory McIlroy has made history by completing his career Grand Slam with a victory at The Masters. Now, the Northern Irish golfer is set to lead Team Europe at the Ryder Cup 2025, aiming to secure a second away victory of his career at Bethpage Black.

McIlroy will be joined by a formidable team of experienced players, including Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Rasmus Højgaard, and Tyrrell Hatton, who have earned their spots as automatic qualifiers. Luke Donald, the Ryder Cup captain, has also announced his captain's picks, which include Shane Lowry, Jon Rahm, Sepp Straka, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Åberg, and Matt Fitzpatrick.

McIlroy, who will be the most experienced player on Team Europe with seven Ryder Cup appearances under his belt and five wins to his name, will play a significant role as a leader. He believes that this year's team has its best chance in a long time to snap the streak of home wins.

The last time a visiting team left with the Ryder Cup trophy in tow was after Medinah in 2012, a roster McIlroy was a key part of. He is currently reassessing his golfing goals, considering an away Ryder Cup victory as a significant achievement.

If Team Europe emerges victorious, McIlroy believes 2025 would go down as the best year of his career, given his second Players Championship success and the completion of his career Grand Slam at The Masters. He has also expressed his desire to win the Ryder Cup at Wentworth, in addition to the upcoming event at Bethpage Black.

Several members of the team have been in top form recently. Ludvig Åberg has won the Genesis Invitational and RSM Classic since Rome 2023, while Tommy Fleetwood has claimed a PGA Tour event during the same period. Robert MacIntyre has also claimed his first two PGA Tour titles since Rome 2023.

Four rookies will represent Team USA in the Ryder Cup. As the competition approaches, all eyes will be on McIlroy and his fellow European players as they aim to bring the trophy back to Europe.
