Volt Bochum Advocates for European Approach in Municipal Politics
Volt Bochum, a pan-European party, is making waves in the city's municipal politics with a focus on a European approach. The party's municipal election program can be accessed via this link: Volt Bochum's Municipal Election Program.
Denise Beuthner and Jan Lambertz serve as City Leads of Volt Bochum, leading the charge for change. One of their key advocacies is the promotion of exchange projects, European schools, and the establishment of an economic network of Ruhr area cities and Dutch municipalities.
Volt's European-centric policies aim to bring the best ideas from all over Europe to Bochum, such as the implementation of Superblocks, a concept that has proven successful in cities like Barcelona. Superblocks are neighbourhood units designed to optimise the use of urban space for pedestrians and cyclists, improving the quality of life for residents.
Kai Tegethoff, a substitute member in the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety in the EU Parliament, and a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism, brings his broad expertise to the table. His experience and knowledge make him an interesting conversation partner for fellow citizens. Unfortunately, there are no available search results that provide information on his political positions in his mandates in the Committee on Transport and Tourism, the area of budgetary control, or the Committee on Health, Environment and Food Safety in the European Parliament.
In a bid to engage with citizens, MEP Kai Tegethoff will be available for questions from September 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the evening market in Linden.
Volt's commitment to a European approach extends to advocating for the implementation of European schools in Bochum. This initiative aims to foster a more integrated and multicultural society by providing education in multiple languages and promoting exchange among students from different European countries.
Kai Tegethoff, prior to his election to the European Parliament in 2024, was a council member in Braunschweig. He will be visiting the information booth of Volt Bochum for the municipal election.
The European Union plays an increasingly important role for municipalities, and Volt is no exception. With more than 108 million euros in EU funds flowing to Bochum in the last funding period from 2014 to 2020, Volt is keen on ensuring that these funds are used effectively to benefit the city's residents.
