New Staff Apartments for Helios Dr. Horst Schmidt Clinics (HSK) Employees to Boost Wiesbaden as a Health City
The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden has announced the construction of new staff apartments for employees of the nearby Helios Dr. Horst Schmidt Clinics (HSK). These apartments, being built at the former helicopter landing site of the old HSK, are a significant contribution to strengthening Wiesbaden as a health city.
GWW is investing approximately 50 million euros in this project, which is seen as a sign of urgently needed appreciation for nursing, medical-technical professions, and functional services. The new apartments, designed as HSK staff apartments, will be reserved exclusively for employees of the clinic.
The construction, being carried out by the general contractor B&O, will result in ten buildings with a total living area of around 12,500 square meters. The buildings will use hybrid wood construction, combining sustainability and modern architecture. Exterior and interior walls will be made of cross-laminated timber, and the roofs will be greened and equipped with photovoltaic systems.
Each apartment will feature balconies, underfloor heating, and mechanical ventilation. Apartments ranging from one-room to six-room will be available, with sizes from 38 square meters to 131 square meters. Heating will be provided via district heating.
The new development will also include green outdoor spaces, a neighborhood square, and a children's playground. This will not only provide a pleasant living environment for the HSK staff but also contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of the area.
Milena Löbcke, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Helios HSK, considers the new construction of staff apartments as a milestone in securing skilled workers and increasing the attractiveness of HSK as an employer. HSK CEO Rungfa Saligmann emphasized the central importance of the project for the clinic and healthcare provision.
Angela Tausendpfund, CEO of EGW, has granted GWW a sub-lease right for the project on the HSK site. Citizens can contact the responsible department or office with any questions regarding the HSK staff apartments.
The construction of the HSK staff apartments is a step towards recognising and valuing the hard work and dedication of healthcare professionals. This initiative is expected to be completed by autumn 2027, further strengthening Wiesbaden's reputation as a health city.
