Examining the alignment of the assistance with the internal market's regulations has been part of the Commission's scrutiny.
In an exciting development, a new project is underway in Wiesbaden, focusing on creating a living environment that combines quality of life and securing skilled workers. GWW is investing approximately 50 million euros in the HSK staff apartments, with the construction of ten buildings set to be completed by autumn 2027, covering a total living area of around 12,500 square meters.
The new apartments, ranging from one-room apartments with 38 square meters to six-room apartments with 131 square meters, are designed as HSK staff apartments and will be reserved for employees of the nearby HSK. Each apartment will feature balconies, underfloor heating, and mechanical ventilation, providing a comfortable living space for the residents.
The construction method combines sustainability and modern architecture, using cross-laminated timber for exterior and interior walls, prefabricated bathroom modules, solid construction for staircases, and reinforced concrete hollow-core slabs. Heating will be provided by district heating, and the roofs will be greened and equipped with photovoltaic systems, further emphasizing the project's commitment to sustainability.
The new apartments aim to relieve the tense housing market and strengthen the healthcare location in Wiesbaden. They are a sign of urgently needed appreciation for nursing, medical-technical professions, and functional services. The investor financing the project is the Landkreis Oberspreewald-Lausitz with funding support from Sparkasse and KWG, utilizing their own funds for the financing.
The social infrastructure is an important part of the project, as emphasized by Dr. Patricia Becher, the social affairs department head and GWW supervisory board chair. Green outdoor spaces, a neighborhood square, and a children's playground will be created, providing a community space for residents and their families.
The new construction of staff apartments is an important contribution to strengthening Wiesbaden as a healthcare city. Milena Loebcke, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Helios HSK and Health Department Head, highlighted the importance of securing skilled workers and increasing the attractiveness of HSK as an employer. Angela Tausendpfund, CEO of EGW, granted GWW a sub-lease right for the project on the HSK site.
Citizens can contact the responsible department or office with any questions regarding the project. The construction of the HSK staff apartments is being carried out by the general contractor B&O. The project is expected to further boost the healthcare location in Wiesbaden.
The publisher of this press release is the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden. The total investment does not include the cost of the land lease from EGW. The new apartments are a significant step towards enhancing the quality of life for healthcare professionals in Wiesbaden and addressing the housing market challenges in the city.
