Excessive alcohol consumption in the region, according to the governor, leads to increased incidences of illness among its residents.

In a bid to address the negative impact of alcohol sales and advertising on the population's health and lives, new rules have been enforced in Petropavlovsk and the Elizovsky District, starting from March 1. The operational meeting to discuss and implement these new rules was held with the participation of local authorities, the police, the Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation, and the customs and inspection agencies.

The governor believes that these new rules will have a positive effect on the health and lives of the population. This belief is supported by statistics showing that the consumption of alcohol by residents of Kamchatka Krai is twice the national average, leading to an increased mortality rate and alcoholism-related illness rates that exceed the national level.

One of the key changes is the prohibition of alcohol sales in stores located in residential multi-story buildings. This move follows a report by Yulia Morozova, the acting chair of the Kamchatka government, stating that large retail chains have stopped selling alcohol in residential buildings.

The excessive number of alcohol sales points has been identified as a concern, and authorities plan to organize inspections at these points to combat violations. Additionally, aggressive advertising of alcohol has been cited as having a negative impact on the health and lives of the population, and efforts will be made to address this issue as part of the broader effort to improve public health and wellbeing in Petropavlovsk and the Elizovsky District.

However, it's worth noting that some small stores may still be engaging in illegal alcohol sales. Authorities will continue to work closely with the police and oversight agencies to ensure that these violations are addressed and the new rules are enforced effectively.

The governor announced these new rules at an operational meeting, emphasizing that they are part of a larger strategy to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the population in the region. The governor expressed optimism that these changes will lead to a healthier and happier community in Petropavlovsk and the Elizovsky District.
