Exercise undertaken by locals beyond the prescribed municipal limits

Last Sunday, fire departments from the municipalities of Erndtebrück, Hilchenbach, and Kirchhundem came together for a joint exercise to simulate a forest fire scenario. The meeting point for the exercise was the "Dreiherrenstein," which marks the border of the three municipalities and the districts of Siegen-Wittgenstein and Olpe.

The exercise was led by Karsten Lewitz (Fw Hilchenbach), Karl Friedrich Müller (Fw Erndtebrück), and Thomas Beckmann (Fw Kirchhundem). The focus of the exercise was on various methods to effectively extinguish a potential forest fire. Throughout the exercise, there was a communicative exchange about equipment, vehicle technology, and deployment tactics.

Thomas Beckmann, who is affiliated with Feuerwehr Kirchhundem, noted many similarities and differences during the exercise. The atmosphere among the participants was consistently very camaraderie-like. The official website of Feuerwehr Kirchhundem is Feuerwehr-Kirchhundem.de, and Thomas Beckmann can be contacted for further inquiries about the joint exercise at [email protected] or by phone at 0171 49 42 515.

The following units participated in the exercise: Fw Hilchenbach (Lützel, Hilchenbach, Helberhausen), Fw Erndtebrück (Birkelbach, Erndtebrück), and Fw Kirchhundem (Heinsberg, Oberhundem). The search results do not contain information about the leader of the fire department in Hilchenbach who participated in the joint exercise with the fire departments from Erndtebrück and Kirchhundem on Sunday.

Further joint exercises are deemed desirable, and cross-border cooperation is considered beneficial. The exercise simulated a forest/fire scenario, and many similarities and differences were noted during the exercise. The participants gained valuable insights into the methods and equipment used by their counterparts in the neighbouring municipalities. The overall goal of the exercise was to improve the response to potential forest fires and to enhance cross-border cooperation.
