Exhibition of "BAKERU" in Los Angeles Extended Until October 20th Due to High Public Interest.
Discover the captivating world of Japanese folk traditions from Tohoku at the extended "BAKERU: Transforming Spirits" exhibition, now running until October 20 at Japan House LA. Located on the Sub-Gallery, Level 2, this participatory exhibition harnesses interactive digital technology to provide a broader access to local culture.
The creators of the BAKERU exhibition, Studio WOW, aim to enhance understanding of regional cultures, particularly those from Tohoku. WOW, a creative studio innovating experiences in art and design, is based in Tokyo, Sendai, London, and San Francisco. The BAKERU exhibition was conceived and created after the devastation of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
Step into the supernatural world of Japanese folk traditions from Tohoku, Japan, and become a part of several festival scenes reimagined by WOW. The exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Japanese culture, showcasing the connection between long-lasting folk traditions and fast-advancing digital technology.
In addition to the exhibition, Japan House LA offers related programs. One such program is the BAKERU Mask Making Workshop, though no specific date has been provided.
For a more hands-on experience, don't miss the BAKERU Workshop. Taking place from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., this workshop has a fee of $5. Furthermore, Japan House LA presents a gastronomy event, Japanese Food Lab Presents Tohoku Izakaya Night, scheduled for October 6 at the Salon, Level 5, for a fee of $65.
Japan House LA, an innovative, worldwide project with three hubs: London, Los Angeles, and São Paulo, conceived by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, occupies two floors at Hollywood & Highland. The ground floor features a gallery space, while the 5th floor houses a Japanese restaurant, relaxing library, and event venue.
