Union Berlin's Business Manager Advocates for Flexibility in Women's Bundesliga Kick-off Times

Jennifer Zietz, the 41-year-old business manager for Union Berlin, has expressed her thoughts on the kick-off times for the Women's Bundesliga. In a recent press conference, she voiced her belief that the league should be bold enough to experiment with different kick-off times for the benefit of its audience.

Zietz is particularly concerned about the current lack of flexibility in the kick-off times, which she believes may not have anticipated such growth in stadium attendance when the contract was signed. She suggests trying conference calls to discuss match times, including Sunday evenings and 12 pm on Saturdays, to improve accessibility and attendance for spectators.

The Iron Ladies will commence their first season in the top tier against 1. FC Nürnberg on Sunday at 6:30 pm. This is a significant moment for the team, as they aim to attract 8,000 fans for their first game. It's worth noting that the last home game in the second league for Union Berlin's women's team was attended by over 20,000 people, indicating a strong fanbase and potential for even greater attendance in the top tier.

However, Zietz does not support Monday kick-off times for women's Bundesliga matches, expressing concern about the kick-off time for the first game, as it falls on a Sunday evening, which may not be ideal for families, students, and students due to school starting the next day.

The 2025/26 Frauen-Bundesliga season kickoff is scheduled for August 22, 2025, with the season ending on May 16, 2026. While specific kickoff times for individual games have not been detailed publicly yet, there is an ongoing discussion about increasing flexibility in match times. The women's Bundesliga will have games scheduled on four days of the week, according to the statement, but whether this includes the suggested Sunday evenings and 12 pm on Saturdays remains to be seen.

Zietz believes that such changes could help the Women's Bundesliga grow and attract more fans, making it a more vibrant and exciting league for everyone involved. As the season approaches, fans and supporters will be eagerly awaiting more details about the kick-off times and the future of the Women's Bundesliga.
