Expanded Media Plan for 2020-2024 Outperforms Anticipated Results
In the city of Hamm, notable progress has been made in the realm of education technology, surpassing the objectives set out in the Media Development Plan (MEP) 2020-2024. The presentation of these results took place at Theodor-Heuss-Platz 159065 Hamm.
Mayor Marc Herter, along with Karin Diebäcker (Head of the Department of School Education), Marion Kötters-Wenner (Chairperson of the Committee for Digitalization and Innovation), and Ingo Drees (Deputy Head of the Department of School Education), led the presentation.
One of the key achievements is that Hamm's schools now average over 70% device quota, enabling a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio in many cases. This significant improvement has been made possible through the acquisition of over 1,700 presentation devices (projectors and TV screens).
Moreover, all school sites in Hamm are now connected via fiber optic cable and equipped with modern WLAN and LAN. Central IT structures have been modernized with the switch to unified systems like IServ and Citrix.
The city of Hamm has also invested substantially in the MEP, contributing a total of 13.7 million euros from communal funds. Additionally, an extra 15.7 million euros were made available through funding.
The focus of the continuation program for MEP 2026-2030 is on maintaining the high level of equipment, replacement acquisitions, and new financing models. The program aims to ensure sustainable structures and social justice, with the involvement of local educational institutions, regional planning authorities, and relevant municipal departments.
