Expanding Operations: Hero MotoCorp to Initiate Operations in the UK and Europe starting from Q2 Fiscal Year 26
Hero MotoCorp Expands into Europe with Electric Bike Launch and Geographical Expansion
India's leading two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, has announced its entry into several European countries, marking a significant geographical expansion for the brand. The expansion will be spearheaded by Hero MotoCorp's all-electric sub-brand, Vida, with the electric bike Vida Z most likely to be the first product launched in Europe.
The brand has appointed Pelpi International S.r.l as its distribution partner in Italy. Hero MotoCorp already has a strong presence in 48 countries, having established itself solidly in South Asia and Latin America. The company will now operate in Germany, France, and Spain in Europe.
In addition to the Vida Z, Hero MotoCorp is planning to introduce high-capacity premium Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) bikes like the Hero Xtreme 250R, the yet-to-launch Karizma XMR 250, and the Hero XPulse 421 in Europe. The expansion into these regions will be a strategic move to diversify the brand's offerings and cater to a wider audience.
The brand's technology centre in Germany will play a crucial role in this expansion. However, the name of the manager or head of this centre is not publicly available. Hero MotoCorp has commercial agreements with partners in France and Spain to facilitate its operations in these countries.
In FY 25, Hero MotoCorp's business in international markets grew by 43%, highlighting the brand's growing global appeal. Exports contribute to 5.7% of Hero MotoCorp's ₹40,756 crore revenue in FY 24. The brand's entry into Europe is expected to further boost these numbers.
While no new information about the timeline for Hero MotoCorp's operations in the UK was provided, it is expected that the brand will start operations in the UK and several European countries from September 2023. The expansion into Europe marks a further step in Hero MotoCorp's global growth strategy.
The Vida Z, which debuted in 2024, is expected to spearhead this business expansion. The brand's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions, coupled with its strong product portfolio, positions it well for success in the European market. This expansion is a testament to Hero MotoCorp's commitment to providing innovative, high-quality mobility solutions to customers worldwide.
