The town where Harmony's past unfolds is eerily cold and run-down, a stark contrast to the polished world of Lumon. The town's centre is an ether mill, a place where children were reportedly employed in poor conditions and became addicted to ether.
Harmony's visit to the Drippy Pot Cafe, the town's only establishment, leads to a tense conversation with Hampton, who is the cafe's sole employee. Harmony asks Hampton to meet her at a nearby factory, and despite his initial reluctance, he agrees.
At the factory, Harmony discovers more about her past. Her notebook, a secret treasure trove of information, reveals that it was not Jame Eagan who invented severance, but Harmony herself. The notebook contains details about the overtime contingency and Glasglow block of severance, implying Harmony's significant role in its creation.
The city that houses this desolate town is New York City, although the episode was filmed in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The town's centre, the ether mill, is a dark reminder of Lumon's roots and the cost of progress.
As the episode concludes, Harmony's phone rings again, this time with a call from Devon. Harmon's past may be unveiled, but her future remains uncertain. The secrets of Lumon continue to unravel, leaving viewers eager for more.
