Expansion of Depot Electrification in View as London Aims for Zero-Emission by 2034

In a significant move to support London's ambition of electrifying its public transport network by 2034, Horizon Energy Ventures and EO Charging have joined forces. This partnership aims to accelerate the rollout of electric bus charging facilities in the city.

EO Charging, a company with extensive experience in electric vehicle (EV) fleet projects, having delivered over 200 such projects across the UK and Europe, is excited about this collaboration. The CEO of EO Charging, Richard Staveley, has expressed his enthusiasm for supporting the transition to zero-emission fleet transportation.

The joint investment by Horizon Energy Ventures and EO Charging is expected to make fleet electrification more accessible. EO Charging's flagship product, the Charge Assurance platform, actively manages operators' energy and flexibility needs while ensuring business-critical fleet outcomes. This platform underpins their Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) solution, which is currently in use across several depots serving London's electric bus fleet.

The partnership will focus on deploying large-scale, fleet-ready charging hubs under a CaaS model. This solution monitors energy use, grid capacity, and vehicle readiness in real time, ensuring efficient and reliable charging services.

London currently operates one of Europe's largest electric bus fleets, with over 1,400 battery electric vehicles. With the increasing number of electric vehicles on the road, the partnership is set to play a crucial role in the city's journey towards a greener future.

In addition, it is projected that almost half of cars made in the UK in 2025 will be hybrid or electric. As the total vehicles output in the UK is expected to decline, the shift towards electric vehicles becomes even more significant.

The fourth annual CiTTi Awards, recognizing achievements and innovations in EV charging infrastructure, will take place on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. While not part of this partnership announcement, it underscores the growing importance of EV charging infrastructure in the UK.

EO Charging remains committed to accelerating London's journey towards a greener future, and this partnership with Horizon Energy Ventures is a significant step in that direction. The collaboration is set to enhance the expansion of charging infrastructure specifically for electric buses in London, with their work planned to begin soon to improve this development.
