Expansion of female-focused Uber service: Cities set to adopt the initiative

Uber, the popular ride-hailing service, has announced plans to expand its "Women Drivers" service to the German cities of Cologne and Düsseldorf, following its successful pilot in Lisbon, Portugal and several cities in Germany. The service, which offers rides exclusively with female drivers or for female passengers, is also available in Berlin, Munich, and Frankfurt.

The aim of the "Women Drivers" option is to make the job of being a driver more appealing to women and to enhance the sense of security, particularly at night. According to Uber's report, the number of female drivers has increased since the introduction of the service.

The "Women Drivers" option does not require an additional fee for customers or drivers. Both drivers and driver-partners can participate in the service in Cologne and Düsseldorf. However, drivers have the option to receive only requests from women with the "Women Drivers" option.

Uber did not provide a specific start date for the launch of the service in Cologne and Düsseldorf, but the company expects the proportion of female drivers to increase in these cities with the introduction of the service.

The average wait time for the "Women Drivers" option in Berlin, Munich, and Frankfurt is around ten minutes, which is twice as long as the average wait time for all customers. However, the average wait time for the "Women Drivers" option in Cologne and Düsseldorf is expected to be around ten minutes, based on the current average wait time in the aforementioned cities.

It is worth noting that the "Women Drivers" option is not exclusive to Uber's own vehicle fleet; it is mediated with rental car companies. Furthermore, women do not have to pay an additional fee for the "Women Drivers" option.

Uber launched the service specifically for women three months ago, and the company plans to continue expanding the service to other cities in the future. The service is part of Uber's ongoing efforts to create a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone using its platform.
