Expansion of health care providers' network observed
On the 4th of June, 2025, a training session was organised in the Landkreis for helpers providing daily support services. The event, which took place over 30 lessons, was attended by 19 participants from the Landkreis and the city of Landshut.
The training, led by Renate Frischhut, focused on providing services according to § 45a SGB XI. It aimed to prepare helpers for both voluntary and non-voluntary service provision, with the ultimate goal of relieving family caregivers.
Two-thirds of the training hours were dedicated to "Dealing with people in need of care and those with dementia." Communication strategies with those with dementia were discussed, and interacting with a neighbour or relative with dementia was a topic covered in the training.
Support for household management was another key topic, including hygiene and cleaning, nutrition and meal preparation, and accident prevention. The ambulatory support services can be provided by professional service providers or volunteers.
The training also emphasised the appropriate attitude for helpers in their role. Elisabeth Strasser, the Landkreis's senior representative, expressed joy that the support network for elderly people in the Landkreis had grown stronger.
The care insurance funds provide a monthly relief allowance of 131 euros for these support services. The training provided practical tips and implementation strategies for daily support services.
Notably, the training was organised in collaboration with the Alzheimer Society of Nuremberg. Due to high demand, a repeat of the training session is planned for the following year.
This initiative underscores the Landkreis's commitment to strengthening its care network for the elderly and ensuring they receive the best possible support in their daily lives.
