Experience-filled day of home shopping and children's festival in Bad Salzungen on September 25, 2025
On September 14, 2025, the spa town of Bad Salzungen invites visitors to a diverse and enriching experience day. The day kicks off at 8 am and extends into the evening, offering a range of activities for all ages.
One of the highlights of the day is the "Day of Open Heritage," with the theme "Worthwhile: Priceless or Irreplaceable?" This event provides access to historic sites, fascinating stories, and special insights. Participating venues include the Ruine of the Husenkirche, which offers guided tours and visits from 1 pm to 3 pm.
At the Haunscher Hof, visitors can visit the registry office from 2 pm to 5 pm. The Museum Tower offers guided tours with the museum director, a film about the Linotype typesetting machine, and postcard printing on a historic printing press from 10 am to 5 pm.
The City and Regional Library features an exhibition "Greetings from Bad Salzungen" from 1 pm to 5 pm, showcasing postcards from two centuries from the city and its districts. Craft activities for children are also available.
The Museum am Gradierwerk is open from 10 am to 5 pm, featuring a permanent exhibition on the history of the saltworks and spa, a special exhibition "80 years later - Bad Salzungen in WWII," and salt boiling in the museum garden.
The Gradierwerk Bad Salzungen is open from 8 am to 8 pm, with last admission at 7 pm. It offers free entry without a gown, and disposable gowns are available. Guided tours are at 2 pm, 4 pm, and 5 pm.
On the same day, Schloss Wildprechtroda offers guided tours with owner Otto von Butler from 10 am to 12 pm and 2:30 pm to 4 pm. Refuge, Sulzberger Str. 9 offers guided tours and wine tastings with owner Uwe Müller from 1 pm to 6 pm, showcasing a gem with a wine shop and stylish apartments.
The "Shop Local" event is supported by various organizations and businesses, including the IHK, GEWOG GmbH Bad Salzungen, SOLEWELT Bad Salzungen, local retailers and restaurateurs, the Trade and Commerce Association, Wartburg Sparkasse, and WerraEnergie.
On September 14, from 2 pm, a program in the music pavilion with the Steinbachbacher Trachtenkapelle takes place at Gradierwerk Bad Salzungen, and a group sing occurs at 3 pm in the Gradierwerk. The Chapel of St. Wendel is open from 3 pm, featuring a small book fair and refreshments.
In the city center, a children's festival is organized by the HGV from 1 pm, while shops remain open for shopping and exploration on the Sunday shopping day. The MehrGenerationenHaus Bad Salzungen provides entertainment and refreshments, including a play and paint corner, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
