Sunseeker Ocean 182: A Tri-Deck Luxury Motor Yacht

The Sunseeker Ocean 182, a tri-deck version of the Ocean 90, is making waves in the luxury motor yacht market. This impressive vessel, measuring 88ft 11in (27.10m) in length, boasts a beam of 23'6" (7.16m) and a near vertical stem, carrying its beam further forward than normal.

The Ocean 182 is wider than its contemporaries, the Princess X95 and the Riva 90 Argo, and this width, when considering its volume of 182 Gross Tonnes, makes it look much better value. Despite its size, the pricing of the Ocean 182 may initially seem out of kilter with 90ft models from rival brands based on length alone. However, upon closer inspection, the Ocean 182 offers a host of features that justify its cost.

The Ocean 182 is equipped with MAN V12 engines, offering power options ranging from twin 1,650hp to 2,000hp units. This powerful engine setup propels the yacht to a top speed of around 27 knots and a slow speed range of up to 1,800nm. The enclosed upper deck allows the main helm to move up, freeing more space on the main deck.

The yacht's design, while not one of Sunseeker's prettiest boats, looks remarkably well integrated. The Ocean 182 has a fuel capacity of 13,000 litres (3,434 US GAL) and a water capacity of 1,500 litres (400 US GAL). It shares a hull and drivetrain with the Ocean 90, and both vessels have a CE classification of Category B.

The Ocean 182 offers valuable extra cabin space in the bow due to its beamy design. Most people may not be familiar with the concept of Gross Tonnage, but it is a measure of a ship's volume, and few other yards quote this figure in their literature.

The Motor Boat & Yachting editor, Hugo Andreae, tested the Ocean 182 and found it to be a formidable vessel. The main competitors to the Ocean 182 and Ocean 90 are yacht builders such as Azimut, Princess Yachts, and Ferretti Yachts, known for producing similar luxury motor yachts in the same size and performance categories.

In conclusion, the Sunseeker Ocean 182 provides a unique blend of power, space, and luxury, making it a standout choice in the luxury motor yacht market. Its size, combined with its competitive engine options and enclosed upper deck, make it a worthwhile investment for those seeking a high-performance yacht that offers comfort and style.
