In the second match of the UPT20 League, Kashi Rudras emerged victorious against Gaur Gorakhpur Lions in a thrilling encounter that took place in Lucknow. The star of the show was none other than Shivam Mavi, who was awarded the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance.
Mavi, who played for Kashi Rudras in this match, showcased his skills with both bat and ball. With the bat, he made a blistering half-century off just 19 balls, a testament to his power-hitting abilities. His partnership with Shiva Singh rescued the innings, as they put together an eight-wicket stand of 87 in 37 balls.
However, it was with the ball that Mavi truly made his mark. He took 3 wickets for 24 runs, putting the brakes on Gaur Gorakhpur Lions' chase. This was a performance reminiscent of his international debut, where he took 4-22 against Sri Lanka.
The coach of Kashi Rudras, Dhruv Singh, must be delighted with Mavi's form. In six T20Is at home against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Mavi took seven wickets at an average of 17.6 and conceded 8.8 runs per over.
Karan Sharma, the captain of Kashi Rudras, also chipped in with a valuable contribution of 39 runs off 19 balls. However, the match was not without its drama. Kashi Rudras found themselves in a precarious position, going from 86-3 to 89-7 in the space of seven balls. But Mavi's heroics ensured they crossed the finish line.
