"Exploration of Greifswald: Two Concurrent Exhibitions Held at the Small Town Hall Gallery and St. Spiritus"
Get ready, Greifswald! The city's 775th anniversary celebrations are about to reach a creative crescendo with the opening of the exhibition titled "Greifswald's 775th Anniversary Celebrations" at the St. Spiritus Socio-Cultural Centre.
The exhibition, running from August 21 to September 26, 2025, will feature around 120 works in various techniques, including photographs, paintings, drawings, prints, textile and ceramic artworks, and other objects. Submitted by residents of all age groups, ranging from professional artists to amateurs, and from children to seniors, these works offer a unique and personal perspective on the city of Greifswald.
The exhibition will have two parts, with the first part opening at the Kleine Rathausgalerie on August 20 at 6:00 PM, followed by a second part at St. Spiritus at 7:00 PM. The finissage of the exhibition, taking place at St. Spiritus on September 25, will include a special screen printing action featuring a Greifswald motive, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
Imke Freiberg, the centre director, expressed delight at the number of artworks received, stating that it shows the creativity and talent of many people in and around Greifswald. She described the exhibition as a wonderful gift for the city's anniversary.
Visitors are encouraged to attend the opening of the exhibition on August 20 and to participate in the screen printing action during the finissage. Additionally, they can vote for their five favourite pieces, which will be released as a postcard series in November, designed by the artist Cornelia Sollfrank.
