Exploration of RUHRWERKSTATT Learning Facility
On September 30, 2025, the RUHRWERKSTATT Education Center invites you to a fascinating tour of the ALTMARKT garden, located on the roof of the Jobcenter Oberhausen in Gutenbergstraße.

The ALTMARKT garden is a shining example of building-integrated agriculture in Oberhausen. It spans an area of 1,100 square meters, where Exner Green Innovation cultivates herbs, lettuce, and strawberries. Alongside this, Fraunhofer Umsicht conducts research on 160 square meters of the garden, as part of a student project in collaboration with the University of Maastricht.
This tour provides valuable insights into future models for agriculture in transition, showcasing the potential of urban farming for sustainable food production. The visit includes a guided tour, lasting approximately one hour, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the innovative practices taking place at the ALTMARKT garden.
