Khushi Chauhan, a visdev artist and illustrator from India, has found a unique way to unwind and hone her craft. When she wants to relax and sketch, she prefers to draw in her physical sketchbook, using soft pencils such as a 6B or an 8B, and colourful gel pens.

For traditional sketches, Khushi enjoys the vibrant hues that coloured pencils provide. However, for digital sketches, she turns to Jink Sketch and Emily Xu's brushes in Procreate. When it comes to digital warm-up sketches, Khushi utilises her iPad.

Khushi's commitment to daily sketching has yielded significant benefits. She finds that consistency has greatly sped up her progress and helped her manage her time better. This dedication is evident in her participation in the Plenairpril challenge, a daily art challenge curated by the Warrior Painters that encourages artists to paint outdoors (en plein air) throughout April. Khushi has participated in the Plenairpril challenge a couple of times, as seen on her Instagram.

The Plenairpril challenge is not the only art event Khushi has taken part in. She plans to exhibit her drawings in a future art exhibition called "Beyond Lines." Khushi has also shared her sketchbook pages from 2022 on her Instagram, offering a glimpse into her artistic journey.

Inspiration for Khushi's art comes from her surroundings and online photos, with Pinterest being her primary source lately. She aspires to improve her live sketching and painting skills, aiming to capture natural colours more accurately in real time.

Currently, Khushi focuses on freelance projects and building her visual development portfolio for animated feature films. She shares her landscape paintings featuring cute characters on her Instagram, showcasing her unique style and talent.

Khushi believes that maintaining a sketchbook routine is beneficial for overcoming art blocks and keeping track of progress. For those participating in the Plenairpril challenge, she suggests planning according to schedule, choosing simpler styles or formats, and focusing on everyday objects to paint for a better understanding of shapes and materials. By following these tips and embracing her daily sketching routine, Khushi continues to grow as an artist and inspire others with her work.
