Exploring Strategies to Combat and Decipher Dementia
The Landshut City Library is set to host an interactive exhibition titled "Hands-on Dementia" on September 9th and 10th. This educational event, in collaboration with the Niederbayern Dementia and Care Centre, aims to foster understanding and empathy for those affected by dementia.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience 13 interactive stations that simulate the daily life of a person with dementia. Expert guidance from the Niederbayern Dementia and Care Centre will be available throughout the exhibition.
On Tuesday, September 9th, a lecture titled "Prevention in Dementia - Memory loss doesn't have to be inevitable" will be held at 1:30 pm. The lecture will be delivered by gerontologist Johanna Myllymäki, who will share insights into current research findings and provide practical advice on reducing risks and strengthening memory in the long term.
Following the lecture, a Q&A session will allow attendees to ask questions and engage in a discussion about the topic. The city library will also provide a selection of guides and specialist literature on dementia for those interested in learning more.
The exhibition is open on Tuesday, September 9th from 10 am to 4 pm, and on Wednesday, September 10th from 10 am to 12 pm. Admission to the exhibition and lecture is free, and no registration is required.
The event will take place at the Salzstadel's lecture hall. This interactive exhibition and lecture serve as a reminder of the importance of dementia prevention and offer a unique opportunity for the public to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those living with dementia.
