Jans Concrete Drilling Technology GmbH Completes Preparatory Work for Boxberg Power Plant Recycling Project

Jans Concrete Drilling Technology GmbH, a specialist in concrete demolition, has successfully completed the preparatory work for the demolition of the Boxberg power plant towers in Burgstädt, Saxony. The managing director of the company, Swen Jans, oversaw the project, emphasizing the importance of precise relief cuts and core drillings for safety and accuracy.

Established a decade ago, Jans Concrete Drilling Technology GmbH has been at the forefront of concrete demolition. The company, based in Burgstädt, Saxony, has its own specialized company for the past three years and boasts a team of 20 employees.

The preparatory work involved the creation of around 200 core drillings with a diameter of 250 mm, using specialized drilling and sawing equipment. The height of the relief cuts and core drillings was carried out up to 45 m. A four-wheel-drive work platform with a working height of up to 51 m was used to bring the necessary equipment, power, and water supply to the required height.

Precise creation of relief cuts and core drillings according to the client's specifications is crucial for safety and accuracy during the blasting process. Approximately 320 m² was cut using a wall saw. The relief openings were carried out from a height of 40 m down to 8 m above the ground, resulting in approximately 230 t of waste material.

The recycling project, led by the LEAG, created additional space for large-scale energy storage solutions for green electricity on a total of 24.5 hectares in Boxberg. The project involved the recycling of over 35,000 tons of reinforced concrete, which will be utilized afterwards.

The BigBattery Oberlausitz, with a grid connection capacity of 100 MW and a storage capacity of 137 MW, is currently under construction in the vicinity of the power plant. Construction of a new 380-kilovolt switchgear is scheduled to begin this year, connecting renewable energy generation in the vicinity of the Boxberg power plant site and the growing Giga-Battery.

Jans Concrete Drilling Technology GmbH operates in conjunction with three other core drilling companies in the region, ensuring the efficient and safe execution of such projects. Despite extensive searches, the managing director of the company remains unidentified in the provided search results.
