Faith institutions team up for relief effort, spearheaded by Pastor Robert Beagle, to gather essentials for those affected by Kentucky's recent flood disasters

A devastating tornado that hit Laurel County on May 16 was part of a larger storm system that affected the central region of the United States. The disaster in London, Kentucky, has prompted a joint relief effort from several churches, including Pastor Robert Ashley Beagle's Visalia Baptist Church, the First Baptist Church of Dayton, and Dayton's Cornerstone Christian Church.

The relief effort is ongoing and will continue until the collection vehicle is filled. The collection vehicle for the relief effort is located on 10th and Central in Newport. Additionally, there will be an additional collection on Thursday, and collections for both First Baptist Church and Cornerstone will take place on Sunday.

Pastor Beagle and his partner, Lance Mockbee, have a history of providing aid after major disasters. They previously delivered over 20,000 pounds of product after a major flood in Hazard. Two months ago, Pastor Beagle collected $9,000 in monetary donations for flood relief in Hazard.

Officials and residents of London have been working around-the-clock to provide support following the disaster. A local electric line service company, PraXel, has offered to subsidize hotel status for the displaced residents.

The relief effort is intended to provide aid for those affected by the flooding in Hazard, Kentucky. At least 28 people were killed as a result of this storm, with 19 deaths in Laurel County and 7 in Missouri (5 in St. Louis). Most of the victims in Laurel County were aged between 50 and 70, according to the county sheriff's office, although no exact number of deaths was given.

Pastor Beagle is working with three congregations: Visalia Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Dayton, and Dayton's Cornerstone Christian Church. He has reached out to Dayton's Cornerstone Christian Church for this relief effort, and he previously attended the First Baptist Church of Dayton.

The three churches Pastor Beagle worked with to send aid after the tornado in Laurel County are the First Baptist Church of London, Laurel County Assembly of God, and Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

London, Kentucky, is located near the Boone National Forest in southeastern Kentucky and hosts the World Chicken Festival annually, featuring a Colonel Sanders look-a-like contest. After the collections, Pastor Beagle and his team plan to travel to London, Kentucky, taking approximately 12-14 hours.

Help has been arriving daily for those affected by the disaster in London, Kentucky. If you would like to contribute to the relief effort, please visit the collection vehicle located on 10th and Central in Newport or attend the collections on Thursday or Sunday. Your support is greatly appreciated.
