In an unexpected turn of events on Saturday evening, a 44-year-old man from Dortmund found himself in police custody, alongside his partner, following an incident on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße in Lünen.

The altercation began when officers stopped a VW Touran for a routine check. Inside the vehicle were five individuals: the 44-year-old man, his partner (48), their teenage daughter, and another couple.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol emanating from the 44-year-old driver. As they spoke to him, the situation escalated, with the man becoming increasingly aggressive. Consequently, he was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car.

Despite the dispersal order issued to his partner due to her disruptive behaviour, she continued to obstruct the movement of the patrol car, shouting and filming the officers. She also attempted to open the door of the patrol car in an attempt to free the 44-year-old.

The man, while in the patrol car, caused a disturbance, kicking the seats and resisting officers. This led to further police measures being taken, resulting in his partner's arrest for resisting arrest, assaulting an officer, and attempted escape.

The VW Touran's erratic driving, which nearly collided with the curb several times and made sudden steering movements, added to the officers' concerns. A voluntary breath test was attempted, but the man did not blow into the tube long enough.

In response, a doctor took a blood sample from the 44-year-old at the police station, and Case No.: 0755 was opened in relation to this incident. The other three occupants of the VW were allowed to continue their journey after the police measures were completed.

It is worth noting that the police officer who controlled the vehicle and triggered the events is from the Police Commissariat of Durrës. This officer had been involved in an incident earlier in which a 35-year-old man attacked him during a routine vehicle check in Durrës.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to the law and cooperating with the police during traffic stops. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
