Fanduel joins forces with SEPTA to revitalize public transit for the Philadelphia Eagles' home debut game
The Philadelphia Eagles' home opener, scheduled for Thursday, September 4, is set to be a smooth ride for fans, thanks to a new partnership between SEPTA and FanDuel.
In a bid to alleviate potential transit issues for fans returning home after the game, SEPTA has joined forces with Uber, and, more notably, FanDuel. The partnership aims to ensure that Eagles fans have safe, clean, and reliable service to-and-from the game, with the added bonus of free rides home.
Initially, SEPTA stated it would not be able to provide express trains during the night's services and would only have three to four trains running after the game, which is typically required to serve 16,000 fans. However, with FanDuel's sponsorship, SEPTA will now run regularly scheduled trains, plus express trips, before and after the game.
Pregame, express trains will run every 10 minutes to supplement local services on the Broad Street Line. Postgame, 10 express and 6 local trains will shuttle fans home from NRG Station near Lincoln Financial Field.
Without the FanDuel sponsorship, SEPTA may have only been able to provide service to 4,000 fans after the home opener. This partnership, announced by the Philadelphia Eagles this afternoon, is intended to provide resources to help fully restore service on the Broad Street Line for the Eagles home opener.
Scott A. Sauer, General Manager of SEPTA, expressed gratitude towards FanDuel for stepping up with the sponsorship to restore Sports Express service for the Eagles home opener. Don Smolenski, President of the Philadelphia Eagles, also expressed his appreciation, thanking FanDuel and SEPTA for their collaboration in providing convenient transportation for the home opener.
The Eagles warned fans not to attend the home opener without a ticket due to potential transit issues. However, with this new partnership, fans can now enjoy the game without worrying about their journey home.
SEPTA's potential service woes leading up to the game were detailed by Crossing Broad, a Philadelphia sports blog, earlier this week. The funding challenges facing SEPTA may have resulted in less trains following the game. But with the help of FanDuel, these issues have been addressed, ensuring a seamless experience for Eagles fans.
This collaboration is not just about improving transportation; it's about making sure that every Eagles fan can focus on the game, knowing that their journey to and from Lincoln Financial Field is taken care of.
