Raising Cane's Expands Presence Near Major Universities Across the U.S.

Raising Cane's, the fast-growing chicken chain, is set to open new restaurants in several cities, with a focus on locations near major universities. The company, known for its strong connection to college communities, has over 800 chicken finger locations across the U.S. and aims to hit 1,000 by the end of the year.

The new Raising Cane's restaurants are scheduled to open in San Diego, Santa Fe Springs (California), New York City, Indianapolis, Spokane (Washington), Bel Air (Maryland), and Ann Arbor (Michigan). In Indianapolis, the restaurant will be close to several institutions, including Indiana University and Purdue University in Indianapolis. In New York City, the new Raising Cane's will be just blocks from Columbia University, across the street from Barnard College, and a short walk from the Manhattan School of Music.

The Bel Air, Maryland, location is surrounded by higher education, with 36 colleges located within a 30-mile radius. In San Diego, the Raising Cane's restaurants will be near the University of San Diego, and the Santa Fe Springs restaurant will be near Cerritos College. The Raising Cane's location in Ann Arbor is steps from the University of Michigan's downtown campus. The Raising Cane's restaurant in Spokane, Washington, will be just over a mile from Gonzaga University.

Raising Cane's has a history of opening restaurants near universities, a tradition that started nearly three decades ago. The company has no plans to stop opening new restaurants, and in 2024, it opened 118 restaurants, including over a dozen in the first month of the year. Despite economic uncertainty, Americans are spending less on fast food, but Raising Cane's continues to attract customers nationwide with its chicken meals.

The company is continually evaluating sites all over the world to achieve its goal of operating 1,600-plus restaurants and becoming a Top 10 US Restaurant Brand. A photograph of a Raising Cane's restaurant was recently spotted in Chicago, suggesting that the company's expansion may not be limited to the cities mentioned above.
